Introduction

I've been reflecting on my own career and leadership journey lately and I'm feeling compelled to talk about a topic that I know resonates with many of us on our unique career journeys. Especially as we climb the ladder or grow our business.

As I write, I feel a sense of commitment towards supporting you to build a career you can truly be proud of. Because of this, I want to shine a light on the importance of getting the guidance and support that will help you elevate your leadership career. I'm referring to dedicated Leadership Coaching.

This has come out of conversations I've had with clients and through my own experience, navigating the twists and turns of a squiggly leadership career.

Picture this:

A talented and ambitious woman steps into a new leadership role, ready to take on this exciting new chapter in her professional life and make a positive impact. In her mind, the need for coaching support seems unnecessary at this early stage. "I've got this," she thinks. "I'll reach out if I ever need help down the line." She is raring to go!

But as we fast forward six months the scene looks very different. Our once-confident and driven woman leader finds herself struggling to get the hang of team dynamics. She lacks the confidence to communicate effectively with senior managers and other leaders, holding back from owning her agency. She is overwhelmed with work that she needs to do to meet her deliverables, proving that she is a capable and competent leader. This has brought up a wave of self-doubt and she asks herself,

Am I really cut out for this?

What does everyone think of me?

That person is so good at XYZ, how are they doing that and why can’t I??

Is it always going to be like this?

Sound familiar?

The Consequences of not taking Action

The unfortunate truth is that all too often, we underestimate the complexities of leadership and the value of seeking support from the outset. By holding off on getting that support we need we end up stressed, overwhelmed and experience a crisis of confidence when this could easily have been prevented 6 months ago.

Think about it: every moment spent asking whether we’re good enough for the job is a moment that could have been spent making a tangible, positive impact in our roles.

But it doesn't have to be this way.

By getting early leadership support, we can lay a solid foundation for sustained success and fulfilment in our careers. It isn't about being weak or incompetent, it's about recognising that even the most capable and talented among us can get to the next level in their career.

Getting that support early means arming ourselves with the tools, insights and strategies we need to navigate the complexities of leadership with confidence and resilience. It means hitting the ground running from day one, rather than waiting for a crisis to force our hand.

What Leadership Coaching can do for you

If you’re on a new leadership journey right now or are feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of your current role, please think about this: the support you need is available and the time to take it up is right now.
